We are dedicated to making a difference in the education, health, and safety of America’s children and youth. The programs and services below are some of our offerings. Check back often for more!
The Reflections Arts Recognition Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program for students. Since 1969, over 10 million students across the nation have taken part in this popular PTA program. The excitement and enthusiasm that the program generates for students, parents, schools and communities is unmatched with the majority of Georgia PTAs participating in the program at all PTA levels
Coffee Talk sessions are held monthly. Principal Candace Wilkes, Teachers, Administrators, and Counselors along with the PTSA board participate to hear from you and provide valuable information for the enrichment of your students. It's an open forum for all to pose questions, concerns and ideas to the school administration and receive direct feedback. Join us in the Media Center at 9am -- we look forward to hosting you.
COME HAVE SOME BUC BREW AND REFRESHEMENTS WITH US.
We offer student recognition celebrations for each grade throughout the school year. Our scholarship program has increased the last two years now offering six $500 scholarships. Students receive discounts on our SAT Prep program that, not only comes with low student/instructor ratio, but also a study guide and refreshments for every student the days of instruction. Have you noticed the banners in the hallway with the names of the honor students at AHS? Your AHS PTSA takes great pride in updating these banners. And, we support College Advisement nights and other events throughout the school year.
We take an opportunity as often in the year, and especially during National Teacher Appreciation Week, to express to AHS teachers how much we appreciate all they do as a faculty member of our school. We use the entire week to honor them through activities such as an Appreciation Breakfast, gift cards, Ice Cream Social, and free car wash vouchers.
We offer SAT Prep classes with the intent of helping students accomplish the following:
Build Helpful Strategies to Prepare for the SAT Reading
Math & Writing Sections
Instructional classroom support by AHS faculty
Participate in taking a full length practice test
This program includes 7 days of instruction and a practice SAT exam.
We are proud to sponsor the Baccalaureate service for our graduates each year. Services are typically held the Sunday before graduation and a reception immediately follows the service. We encourage all Seniors and their parents to attend this incredible program.
This is a great opportunity for volunteers to assist us with organizing the graduates for the program, setup/breakdown and serving at the reception.
